Frequently Asked Questions about The Pup Puck
-
Made out of a tough yet flexible TPU material (thermoplastic polyurethane). TPU is free of harmful chemicals like BPA and phthalates, is non-toxic, long-lasting and pet-safe to chew on. It’s an extremely strong yet pliable material used for high performance and high stress products. It is most often used by medical device companies and dog toys.

The Pup Puck is engineered to last longer than other chew toys, even in the face of aggressive chewing. No more chewed-up toys that break down after a just few days—just long-lasting, high-quality fun for your furry friend.
The Pup Puck is designed to be tough, but not indestructible, as we believe overly hard toys can damage teeth. It’s durable with some give for safe chewing, but over time, small shavings may wear off. If the toy loses all four lobes, it's time to retire and recycle it. The Pup Puck is safe to chew on as it breaks down gradually. It is recommended to monitor your dog while playing with the Pup Puck to ensure proper play and appropriate chewing is taking place.

It depends on the dog, anxiety level and chewing style. We’ve heard of extreme aggressive chewers chewing it up within a week (most owners were shocked it lasted that long as most chew toys for these chewers don’t last a day) while other less aggressive but strong chewers will chew within 3-6 months. We like to say the average chew cycle is about 2 months but again it really depends on the dog. Our golden retriever who loves to chew isn’t necessarily an aggressive chewer - she has yet to completely destroy any Pup Pucks thus lasting her years with just teeth mark dents all over.
-
We like to call it the Goldilocks of Chew Toys: durable enough to outlast most other toys yet pliable enough to be safe to chew on for a long time. In terms of chew toy durability: it is more durable than a Black Kong X-treme but not as hard as a Nylabone.

The Pup Puck caters to all breeds/sizes of dogs, even the most aggressive chewers big or small. Whether you have a small pup or a large breed, the Pup Puck comes in three sizes to suit every dog’s needs:
- Pup Puck Mini: Ideal for dogs under 20 lbs, this size is perfect for small dogs or puppies who need a chew toy that's easy to carry and manipulate. (3.25”x 2.75”x .60”)
- Pup Puck Medium: Our original size, designed for dogs 20-80 lbs. Great for the average dog who loves to chew and play fetch. (3.25”x 2.75”x 1.25”)
- Pup Puck XL: The largest size, perfect for dogs over 80 lbs or those who are extremely tough on toys. (3.75”x 3.5”x 1.5”)
- Note: You know your dog best. The toy size by weight is just a suggestion - if you have a dog "on the cusp" of sizes, consider sizing up

Whatever your dog loves! Our favorites to stuff in the center hole are soft chew-treats, blueberries, kibble or cheese. Then we love to cover the stuffed center divot with peanut butter, yogurt, canned pumpkin or wet food- then stick in the freezer for an even more enjoyable chew experience.
-
Unlike other popular stuffable dog chew and enrichment toys, the Pup Puck is extremely easy to clean! Simply rinse off and/or stick into the dishwasher. If a stubborn center treat won’t come out, put in dishwasher first then use a paper clip or tooth pick to easily push treat out.
-
Our family business is in irrigation manufacturing. The Pup Puck’s origin is a part of an irrigation component nicknamed the Puck, that helps to make the drive-shaft of center-pivots move around farming fields to help water crops like corn and soy beans. It is specially engineered to withstand harsh weather conditions and designed to last in the fields for at least 5 years hence why the quality and durability are top notch. Our family dogs have been loving and chewing on Pucks for over 20 years!

Chewing = Brain Exercise. It activates instincts, calms nerves, prevents boredom, and challenges dogs to think. Chew toys are one of the easiest and healthiest ways to mentally enrich your dog’s daily life.
-
Chewing on the Puck Puck can reduce anxiety by calming the brain, relieving stress, and giving dogs a safe outlet to cope with boredom, fear and nervous energy. Stuffing a treat in the center can keep dogs occupied longer and deepen the calming effect.
-
Chew toys support dental health by reducing plaque, massaging gums, freshening breath, and encouraging healthy chewing habits - all while your dog enjoys playtime.
